The Gilbert Apple was gifted to me (Rob Pelletier) by my dear departed friend and mentor Allen Gilbert*. It is probably the best red-fleshed apple we have seen, and there are a few around. It and makes an interesting addition in apple-based desserts and also ideal in cider to contribute colour.
- Pollination Group: PG3
- Uses: Cooking, cider
- Harvest: April - May
- Features: Exceptional red flesh, deep red fruit colour.
