The Snake Bark Maple Acer grosseri var. hersii is from cetral China and introduced to the west in 1919. It forms a small deciduous broad-crowned tree with green bark striped with white, with green three lobed leaves, turning red in autumn. Flowers are in long drooping racemes in spring.
