Punica granatum 'Mollar de Elche' is by far the most popular and most widely grown pomegranate in Spain. Very sweet and small tender and edible seeds make it a highly sought after variety. Apart from its superior flavour it is known for high antioxidant, vitamin and mineral content. It is suitable for a wide range of growing conditions from temperate to semi-arid areas, preferring cold winters. Summer watering is required in drier climates.
