Malus halliana ‘Parkmanii' was instroduced to the USA in 1861 from cultivated plants in Japan and named in 1863. One of the most compact crabapple species. Rose coloured buds hang in clumps on long deep crimson pedicels before opening to shell pink coloured, semi-double to double flowers. Foliage is bronze green.
Fruit is small, red to red-purple and relatively sparse. A relatively slow grower and regarded as one of the best for its spring blooms.
