Magnolia x soulangeana 'Vulcan' is a stunning deciduous shrub or small tree with an upright and narrow habitat. Rich ruby-red flowers - one of the darkest red Magnolias - appear in early-mid spring before foliage. Giant cup-and-saucer-shaped blossoms averaging 10-12 inches across (25-30cm). The fragrant blooms have a petal count of around 12 each with a subtle white tinge and curving outwards. Pruning should be completed in mid-summer when in full leaf.
