Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Spirit' (Smokebush) has something to offer through the growing season. A bushy deciduous shrub noted for its foliage of almost circular leaves emerging fresh yellow-green in spring then maturing to golden yellow in summer, before turning glowing shades of coral pink, red, and orange in autumn.
Large, feathery, pinkish-white flower plumes appear in summer then cover the plant with fluffy, hazy 'smoky' puffs into autumn.
A multi-branched upright shrub to 2.5m x 2m wide. Tolerates light shade, prefers full sun. For strong foliage displays cut back hard each winter to promote masses of new growth. Reduce pruning intensity to encourage flowering.
