Cornus florida 'Rubra', the pink flowering dogwood, is a small deciduous tree growing to around 6m - 8m tall with a low-branching, broadly-pyramidal habit.
Native to North America from southern Ontario to Mexico and it is regarded as one of the regions best flowring small trees. It is the state tree of Missouri and Virginia. It flowers in early spring with pink to reddish pink, petal-like bracts which open flat, giving the appearance of a single, large, 7-10cm diameter, four-petaled, pink flower.
